james howard kunstler on the colbert report

james kunstler has a useful & informative website called clusterfuck nation. i've read a few of his non-fiction books & i think they're great... if extremely disturbing. but he has a way of writing that's very funny and he can make you laugh while reading about extreme doomsday-ish scenarios for the future. his newest book is a novel and i haven't read it yet, but i just discovered that he was promoting it on the colbert report on may 1.

eli, bodi, and sarah

go vegan, help save the planet

here is a nice, concise talk on the environmental & health impacts of the traditional western meat-based diet.

i just had a visit from some awesome friends from CA - a couple, sarah & eli, and their son bodi. i used to work w/bodi back in the days when i used to work. i think i met him when he was 4. he's almost 13 now. they stayed in my apt. and enjoyed 2 pretty good days in northampton before i took them to the train this morning. on tuesday we spent about 3 hours in the park hula hooping! by the time sarah left here she had mastered 2 tricks, pretty impressive for a first-timer.

i introduced them to the wonder that is skype and we got her twin sister out west to install it, then hula hooped over skype with bodi's cousins. bodi could not stop raving about skype and i'm excited because they'll be skyping me when they get back home from their trip. it will really help my procrastination efforts, no doubt.

now i'm off. too much to say, too little time. some other time.
