michael franti and spearhead

tonight i went with kevin and nicole to see spearhead. i got my weed confiscated but they didn't get my bowl. it was a great show. afterward there was a book signing and i had an opportunity to tell michael franti thanks for the film festival he put on at the roxie in san francisco where nobody showed up but it was awesome anyway. i remember that he brought his kid to it. he kept saying "yeah, sis, thank you, sis" etc. but he complimented my jacket which was the one step-out-of-trance moment that in which i caught him. in other news, we contemplated partying with the 16-year-old security staff kid in order to get the weed back but we decided to leave him alone in his existential crisis of "i hate this job, it makes everyone think i am so uncool." now we three are all back at my bachelorette pad chillin' and we're about to feast on vegan beanies and weenies until i am no longer hungry, and then we plan to go to the park and hoop at 1 am in the dark, in the park, in the dark of the park... then kevin is crashing here because he left his keys at work and he's locked out until 3pm tomorrow, and nicole is crashing here because the drive home is way too long for a late night like tonight. so i am playing hostess with the leastess.

it only took one day!

i don't know how this happens. there is some mysterious person out there who scouts for videos to put on hooping.org and puts them up there as "video of the day" and "trick of the week". i made trick of the week once, and kevin is still up there right now as trick of the week for the second week in a row. anyway, our "getcha hoop on" video went live on youtube only yesterday, and i checked hooping.org this morning and what do you know, it's up there as video of the day. not only that, but the caption reads, "hoopers against the hilton" are out to keep the hotel chain away from pulaski park in northampton, massachusettes. soundtrack: "getcha hoop on" by kid hoopasonic, featuring the nohohoops.org crew." that is so cool! go check it out now. it will be gone tomorrow.

last wednesday and the wednesday before that we shot the northampton hooping anthem, "getcha hoop on" in pulaski park. it was the most amazingly fun time... and we were blessed to be joined by the kennedys for both shoots. because they totally totally rock. go see them perform live if you can. anyway derek went away for the weekend but i guess he kept himself very busy working on this video because it is now up on youtube! check it out:



when derek gets back i'll make sure to get a copy of this to put on the nohohoops.org website too, because the quality there will be supreme. anyway this is exciting! and he included the shot of me doing that trick that, in the learning of it, caused me to have big purple bruises all the way around my right ankle and caused my left hip to be thrown out. me and my 80-year-old hips. it's all worth it for that one shot. whee!
